2009 Tax Credit Information

Tax Credits2009 is the year to finally go ahead and replace your HVAC system in that there are special Federal Tax Credits for those who choose to install energy efficient, Energy Star approved HVAC System for their Long Island home. Besides for the great tax credit, you will be able to save about $200 a year by cutting your energy bills with your new improved HVAC system. There are certain qualifications that your HVAC system must have and not all Energy Star systems qualify. For central A/C units, click the Consortium for Energy Efficiency Product Directory to see if your product qualifies. For gas, oil and propane furnaces, click the Gas Appliance Manufacturing Association. 

What you need to know:

  • Must be completed during 2009
  • Must save you receipt and the Manufacturers Certificate Statement
  • For an A/C unit, you may claim up to $300
  • For furnaces, you may claim $150
